Mr. Ricky Lester Poole

Ricky Lester Poole was welcomed into the Lord’s loving arms on October 8th, 2024.

Mr. Poole was born on October 18, 1957, in Woodstock, Virginia, to Betty Spivey Poole and Shirley (Pete) Poole.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1977 as a member of the Seabee Battalion. He worked in construction and was a highly skilled equipment operator. Throughout his career, he worked for Laramore Construction Company, Haymes Brothers, Inc., and was later self-employed with Poole Grader Service. His love for reading fueled a passion for lifelong learning, and there was no topic he could not discuss. He loved the blues, fishing, and the peacefulness of solitude.

Mr. Poole was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathy Layne Poole; his brother, Douglas Poole; his sister, Betty Rose Poole; and his niece, Brittany Poole.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Poole Jones (Kevin) of Axton, Virginia; his son, Douglas Poole (Jennifer) of Pelham; and grandchildren, Evan Adkins, Hailey Adkins, Alani Kennedy (Shawn), Myric Pollard, Madison Walton, Nivek Jones, Emily Poole, and Grace Poole. He is also survived by his brothers, Jesse Poole of Pelham, Frankie Poole (Monica) of Salado, Texas, Tommy Poole of Pelham, and Brian Poole of Pelham, and his sisters, Greta Poole of Pelham and Tammy Poole Vaughan of Pelham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Kent officiating. Interment will follow at Schoolfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 5-7 pm.
