Richard Lee Thomas, age 78, of Clinton, MI, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was born March 8, 1946, in Ypsilanti, MI, to Gerald and Virginia (Baisch) Thomas. On June 10, 1972, he married Donna Swarthout, and they shared fifty-two years together.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, and was a member of the Clinton American Legion Post #176. Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver, farmer, and machine repairist, before starting his own woodworking business. Along with enjoying woodworking, Richard enjoyed being a member of the Farmer’s Antique Tractor and Engine Association. He was a proud John Deere owner and would tell anyone who would listen why John Deere tractors are better than the rest.
Besides his wife, Donna, Richard is survived by his daughters, Laura (Joe) Kinney of Clinton, MI, Deana Thomas of Tecumseh, MI, and Addie (Julia) Bisceglia of Jackson MI; sibling, Nancy Tschirhart of Clinton, MI; his beloved grandchildren, McKenzie Daugherty and Jim Daugherty, both of Onsted, MI; along with many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Virginia, and siblings, Ron, Judy, Ardy, and Donna.
A memorial luncheon in Richard’s honor will be held from 1-4 pm, Saturday, April 19, 2025. at the American Legion Post #176 in Clinton, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
