Mr. Richard Joseph Nolin

Date of birth 01/07/1945
Date of passing 07/29/2022

Derry – Richard Joseph Nolin, 77, of Derry, NH passed away on July 29, 2022, at Holy Family Hospital surrounded by family. Richard was born as the youngest of six brothers on January 7, 1945, in Lawrence, MA to Auguste and Eliza (Lemieux) Nolin. He joined the Navy in June of 1963 and served aboard destroyers until June of 1967 and then served as a Seabee in the Naval Reserves. On August 9, 1969, he married Carol Jane Flathers and they raised three daughters, Mary Beth, Shauna, and Jayne. He had a carpentry business for many years before working with both ZVI and Seaver construction companies.
Anyone who knew Richard was struck by his gentle soul and mischievous sense of humor. He was an avid card player and was so happy to be at a pinochle table with his brothers. He and Carol loved games and puzzles of all types and turned every evening into family game night. With his easy laugh, he was always ready with a joke or one-liner and put people at ease with his quick wit. Richard loved harmless pranks and was delighted when anyone got him with a prank as well.
Some of his other loves were his dogs, particularly his Ollie, a good meal followed by a great dessert (he was an apple pie connoisseur), sitting on a porch rocker and watching a good lightning storm, and John Wayne Westerns. What he loved most was his family. Richard worked hard his entire life to take care of them and always put them first. He was devoted to Carol and was her full-time caregiver in the years before she passed away in 2014.
His grandchildren; Nolin, Mary Caroline, Adele, and Charlotte Harris and Cooper DiPirro, brought him so much joy and he was so proud of them. They will always treasure the fun they had with him building birdhouses, playing games, and just laughing.
Richard was predeceased by his wife, his parents and brothers and is survived by his children, Mary Beth Nolin, Jayne (Kevin DiPirro) all of Derry, NH, Shauna (Jim Harris) of Mt Pleasant, SC, and their children.
