Richard F. Resig, 94, formerly of Fayetteville, died at the Nottingham RHCF. Born on June 30, 1926 in Altoona, PA, he graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1944 and Pennsylvania State University in 1950. Rich served in the U.S. Navy, Seabees 139th Construction Battalion during WWII. He was Safety Director at Agway, Inc. for 32 years and following was Manager of Grounds of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville for 23 years.
Rich was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. He enjoyed woodworking and travel by train. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Boy Scouts of America. Rich is well known for making over 565 Adirondack style chairs for charitable causes and many other pieces of furniture for family and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Rosemary C. Resig; son, James Resig; son-in-law, Ray Curtin; parents, John and Anna Marie Resig; and a brother Benedict Resig.
He is survived by a brother, John V. Resig; his children, Michael (Martha) Resig, Patricia Curtin, Mark Resig and Christopher (Susan) Resig; daughter-in-law, Ann Resig; fourteen grandchildren, David, Joel, Sarah, Timothy, Brian, Kevin, Bianca, James Jr., Thomas, Dorothy, Richard, John, Michael, and Steven; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Masks will be required to attend any of the indoor services.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 20th at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. The service will begin at 10:15 am on Monday, June 21st at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St., Fayetteville. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville.
