Richard E. Seltzer, of Pottstown and a former long time resident of Norristown, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2023. He was 77 years old. Born June 22, 1945 in Norristown, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Frances (nee Smith) Seltzer, and the beloved husband of the late Georgeine (nee Williams) Seltzer, they were married for 55 years. Richard married his High School sweetheart and graduated from Norristown Area High School. He was a US Navy Seabees Veteran and served two Tours of Duty during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Hancock Fire Company where he served in many capacities including past president and former Fire Marshall. Richard was a Master Mason at Charity Lodge 190. He was PA State Constable and a member of the American Legion Post 901. Richard owned RE Trash Removal before selling and working for other trash/recycling companies. Richard was an avid collector of stamps, trains, and coins. He loved to watch the Phillies and the Eagles. He enjoyed gardening, going to the beach, smoking cigars and drinking Scotch. Richard loved cars, especially his 1956 Chevy Bel Air and his Corvette. Richard is survived by his three children; Richard E. Seltzer, II (the late Catherine), Kristi Fink (Troy) and Bradley Seltzer (Vanessa), seven grandchildren; Joseph, Richard III, Nora, John, Daniel, Benjamin and Sarah, and his sister; Margaret “Peggy” Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives are invited to share in Richard’s Life Celebration on Friday June 2, from 10 AM to 11:50 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000.
