Final Salute

Richard E. “Dick” Tischer, 81, of Galion passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Galion Pointe.

He was born June 2, 1941 in Galion and was the son of Ralph and Erma (Roderick) Tischer. Richard married Charlotte (Gates) Tischer and she preceded him in death.

He graduated from Galion High School in 1959 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the Seabees during the Vietnam War. Richard worked as an Engineer at the former North Electric, ITT-North and PECO. He was a train enthusiast, member of the Galion Alumni Band and enjoyed playing cards.

Richard is survived by a son, Chris (Pam) Tischer of Galion; three grandchildren, Tara Taylor, Stephanie Valentine and Kathi Tischer; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Brenda) Tischer and two sisters-in-law, Cindy Gates and Linda Tischer.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Taylor; son, Darby Tischer and a brother, Jerry Tischer.

Services will be held at a later date.
