ALBANY, OR – James “Jim” Robert Daniel Reister, died in his home in Albany, OR, on August 12, 2024, at the age of 98. He was born in Peshastin, WA, on April 10, 1926, to Rev. John F. Reister and Johanna Elizabeth (Mees) Reister. Jim served in World War II as a member of the Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in the Philippines and Truk Atoll. He married, Margaret (Reiman) Reister and had five children, Susan, Edward, Carolyn, Robert, and Jeffery. Jim taught Machine Shop Technology at Washington State Penitentiary and Industrial Maintenance Technology at Walla Walla Community College, until his retirement in 1986. He was active in his church, Trinity Baptist, leading the youth group and teaching Sunday School for youth and adults. He influenced others for Christ.
Jim is survived by his children, Edward (Carol) of Tangent, OR; Carolyn of Halsey, OR; Robert (Teresa) of Yamaguchi, Japan; and Jeffery (Annette) of Woodburn, OR; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Margaret, his wife of 60 years; his daughter, Susan; and great-grandson, Tanner.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Fellowship, 33990 McFarland Rd., Tangent, OR, on September 14th, at 2:00 p.m. FisherFuneralHome.com of Albany, OR, is handling the arrangements. A link to a livestream of the memorial service will be made available on their website.
