Richard Del Barba 1938 – 2022 FEEDING HILLS Richard J. Del Barba, 84, passed away on November 23, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by family. Born in Southington, CT on March 7, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Fiondella) Del Barba. From July, 1958 – June, 1960, he proudly served his country in the Mobile Construction Battalion 4 (Seabees) of the United States Navy. For many years, Richard served his community, the Town of Agawam, as a Police Officer and as a Highway Foreman for the Department of Public Works. In his spare time, he loved watching his grandsons play hockey and his granddaughters cheer and dance. He enjoyed going out to eat with his wife and grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino, playing cards and watching the Boston Red Sox. Richard was blessed with having many lifelong friends and creating great memories together. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sisters Angela Butler and Judith Brantley. To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 59 years, Rae M. (Marin) Del Barba; his children John R. Del Barba and his wife Deborah of West Hartford, CT, Christina Starr and her husband James of Chicopee and Richard R. Del Barba and Kamaris Lessard of Agawam; his grandchildren Kora and her husband Jim, Cameron and his wife Jess, Kyle, Alicea, Ryan and Trevor; his great grandchildren Luke and Noah; his sister Grace Greski and her husband Leonard of South Carolina, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 11 AM – 1 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main Street, Agawam. A service will take place at 1 PM followed by committal services and military honors at 2 PM at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390, Main Street, Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
