Richard A. Simpson Sr., 81, of Lake George, passed away on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital with his wife and children by his side.
Born in Pittsfield, Mass., on Aug. 12, 1939, he was the son of the late George and Devina (Bocking) Simpson.
He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, Class of 1958.
Richard proudly served in the United States Navy as a Seabee.
He was employed by Plattsburgh Air Force Base as a firefighter for 28 years until his retirement.
After retirement, he worked for Flac Tours, Plattsburgh City Schools and Lake George School District.
He was a member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Freemasons, and The American Legion.
Richard enjoyed outdoor activities. Above all, he loved taking care of his family and his ducks in the back of his home.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Sandy (Smith) Simpson; his three children, Debbie (Walt), Ken (Terri), and Rick (April); his grandchildren, Kasi, P.J., Kodie, Kylee, and Janelle; his great-grandchildren, Hailee, Matthew, Brodi, and Hannah; his brother, Robert Simpson; his sister, Shirley Croughwell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
