Final Salute

ONEIDA- Peter M. Rowe, 73, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026, at home, with his loving and caring family by his side, following a brief illness. Born in Oneida on December 3, 1952, he was the son of Eileen Ann Rowe. Raised and educated in the Oneida schools, Peter was a graduate of the Oneida High School, Class of 1971. He married Elizabeth A. “Betty” Macrina in St. Joseph’s Church, Oneida on April 21, 1989. Mrs. Rowe died on May 14, 2025. Prior to his retirement in 2008, with over thirty years of service, Peter was employed as a heavy equipment operator with the New York State Department of Transportation. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy Seabees, serving in Vietnam from 1972- 1974. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, a member and of the Madison County Historical Society, volunteering and setting up various events, the Syracuse Chapter of the Navy Seabees Veterans of America, loved collecting milk bottles, his motorcycles, attending car and motorcycle shows, attending the Baseball Hall of Fame Weekend, garage and estate sales, antique shows and family camping. Surviving are his son, Shawn N. Rowe (girlfriend, Brandy Gerlach and her two daughters, Camilla and Madelyn); and his turtle, Speedy. He was predeceased by his son, David R. Clark on October 12, 2011. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, May 18, 2026, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida and 10:30 AM from St. Joseph’s Church, 121 St. Joseph Place, Oneida, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Christopher Ballard, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1-5 PM, Sunday, May 17, 2026.
