Friends and family will gather Friday to pay tribute to Peter George Ross, a self-employed Master Electrician and Craftsman, jack of all trades, and unofficial mayor of Youngstown. Peter passed on July 30th surrounded by his loving family after an ongoing battle with lung cancer. He was 72.
Throughout Peter’s illness, his love of his family, unwavering care of his beloved wife, support of his best friend, the family’s cocker spaniel Patches (affectionately known as “Boo”) sustained him.
Peter was a loving husband to Rosemarie Ross (Rasmussen) for 44 years. As some may not know, Peter and Rose’s epic love story began as a whirlwind romance – made for Hallmark. They married in just three weeks after meeting on June 21, 1978. Beloved friends, David and Cheryl DeGolier can attest to the instant love that bloomed between Peter and Rose, and spanned these past 44 years.
Peter lived most of his life in Youngstown, blessed with two wonderful children together: Ryan Michael Ross (Kyle-Lynn Tuttle), and Lisa Marie Ross. Lisa is also mother to Rogue Logan Ross- the apple of Peter’s eye, his “Peanut”. Peter also has one elder son from a previous marriage, Eric George Case and one beloved grandson Axel George Case; both of whom reside in Texas.
Peter will also be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Roseanne Silva (Rasmussen), her husband Fabie Silva and nephew, Michael Silva.
A hallmark in Peter’s life was his love of nature, his favorite spots to quietly meditate were Fort Niagara, and Porter on the Lake. We promise to visit soon, as his fondness for feeding his squirrel friends will carry on in his honor.
A Veteran Navy SeaBee, with service in Vietnam, where he earned both a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Peter lived his life to the fullest enjoying the simple pleasures: helping others, enjoying good food, spending time chatting and in the company of his family whom he worked tirelessly to support.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the medical teams, doctors and nurses from both the in-patient and ICU at the Buffalo Veterans Hospital. Your care was a blessing, and remains a great comfort.
Heaven has gained a true angel; the beautiful legacy Peter has left behind will be carried on by all generations, now and those to come, with great pride. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to W.N.Y Heroes Inc., a local non-profit supporting veterans right here at home.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held on Friday August 5, 2022, 3 to 6PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, with a celebration of life service to follow at 6PM.
