PAUL R. DWIGGINS (Age 79)
Paul Russell Dwiggins, formerly of Takoma Park, MD, died at home in Norton, MA, on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Born in 1943 in Washington, DC, to Roscoe and Lucile Dwiggins, Paul was raised in Berwyn Heights, MD. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he studied civil engineering. Following college, he served two tours as an officer in the U.S. Naval Construction Battalions (Seabees) in Vietnam.
Paul spent the bulk of his career at De Leuw, Cather & Co. (later Parsons), working on such projects as the Washington Metro and the Northeast Corridor. A lover of trains, maps, and archaeology, Paul volunteered in retirement with the Lost Towns Project in Anne Arundel County.
Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years, the Rev. Anne Dwiggins; his sons David (Kate) of Mansfield, MA, Daniel of Waltham, MA, and Patrick of Palmyra, VA; his beloved grandchildren; and his sister Donna Dwiggins of Spokane, WA. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 5101 16th Street NW, Washington, DC, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. Gifts in Paul’s memory may be made to Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of MD (thehumblewalk.org); the Lost Towns Project (losttownsproject.org); or Lutheran Disaster Response (elca.org/LDR).
