Mr. Paul Frederick Kimball

Paul Frederick Kimball, 80, of Sandwich died September 8 at Royal Falmouth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

He was the husband of 36 years of Joan Marie (O’Brien) Kimball. His wife died in 2006.

Born and raised in Needham, he was the son of Carleton and Gertrude (Morton) Kimball.

After graduating from Newton Trade School, he joined the Navy Seabees and served in the Vietnam War and Guantanamo Bay. After he was discharged, Mr. Kimball joined the DeWitt Clinton Lodge in Sandwich and remained a member for more than 50 years. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 188 in Sandwich.

Mr. Kimball was a self-taught finish carpenter who worked for himself.

He leaves his daughter, Ellen M. Fitzgerald and her husband, Brett Fitzgerald, of Sandwich; a sister, Jean Altobello of Pembroke; two grandchildren, Paul Kimball Fitzgerald and Sarah Noelle Fitzgerald, both of Sandwich; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was Saturday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich.

Burial was at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
