Mr. Paul E. Perko

Paul E. Perko of Middlesex, N.J., died Friday in the Somerset Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Bridgewater, N.J. His wife of 57 years is the former Mary P. Cigan. They have resided in Middlesex the past 40 years.

Born in Moosic, son of the late Joseph and Tillie Petrusick Perko, he served in the Navy with the 71st Battalion Seabees in the Pacific theater during World War II. He retired from the Monsanto Chemical Co. in 1987. He was a member of Middlesex Legion Post 306, the VFW, the Middlesex Seniors, OLMV Seniors, Bridgewater Seniors and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Middlesex.

After the war, as a young man, Paul enjoyed playing baseball in and around the Scranton area with his brother and father. He enjoyed gardening his entire life and loved his grandchildren. After retirement, he also enjoyed exercising and swimming on a daily basis.

Also surviving are a son, Edward and wife, CarolLee, Middlesex; and two grandchildren, Karen and Warren Perko, both of Middlesex.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Clap and Delores Jordan; and a brother, Joseph Perko.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunmore. Friends may call Monday, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment with military honors, St. Michael’s Cemetery in Dunmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
