OLNEY JAY GOBER Olney Jay Gober, Seminole, Okla., resident passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Seminole at the age of 39. Jay was born on July 19, 1984, in Shawnee, Okla. He proudly served in the United States Navy during Operation Enduring Freedom. He received the following honors: Iraq Campaign Medal with Eagle, Globe and Anchor; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal and a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Jay enjoyed fishing and woodwork. Jay is survived by his mother, Cynthia Diane Gober of Asher, Okla.; father and stepmother, Paul and Valerie Gober of Seminole; three sisters, Leanne Allen and Brian Roberson of Odessa, Texas, Melissa Thomas and husband, Rodney of Amarillo, Texas and Hannah Gober of Odessa; two brothers, Richard Gober and wife Jill of Macomb, Okla. and Jimmy Lee Gober of Asher; and many other family and friends. Jay was preceded in death by grandparents, Jay and June Sheppard, Edgar and Gladys Trent and Kenneth and Phyllis Gober. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100070664574622 is a source of comfort and encouragement. Viewing was Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 1 to 7 p.m. and Friday, February 9, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Services were livestreamed on Swearingen Funeral Home’s Facebook page. Interment followed at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.
