Norman P. Roberge, 86, of Biddeford, passed away on June 7, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on September 3, 1936, in Biddeford, the son of Urbain Roberge Sr. and Alice Roberge Roy. He was educated in Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1954.
On May 4, 1957, he married the love of his life, Rita Tardif, at St. Mary’s Church.
Norman entered the U.S. Navy in 1958 and was Honorably Discharged in 1962. He served in the Naval Construction Battalion, commonly known as the Seabee’s. He was stationed in Virginia, Rhode Island, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
Upon returning home, Norman went to work at the Carvel Company as a Journeyman Plumber. He stayed there until 1979, when he left to join the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He worked there until his retirement in 2000. He spent the next 15 years as a part-time employee at Deering Lumber Co.
Norman loved staying busy by working at his home and discovered a love for wood-working. He enjoyed making all kinds of different things, especially birdhouses, which he was still making until his death.
Norman always made time for family. No matter what he was working on at the time, he would always put it aside for a family member in need.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Biddeford; his son, Kevin and his wife Carolyn of Biddeford; his son Stephen of Biddeford; and his three grandchildren: Taylor, Erika and Todd. Norman was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews, their spouses and many cousins who will miss him dearly.
