NORMAN OLIPHANT 1924-2021
It is with deep sadness to hear of the passing of an incredible person this morning, Norm Oliphant. Incredible is the common word found when describing Norm. He was an incredible husband to his wife Marcia, an incredible friend, an incredible artist, an incredible American, etc., etc., etc…. he was simply an incredible human-being. He brought happiness and sunshine to whomever crossed his path. He did this despite the great suffering he himself was going through. A veteran of World War II, he was wounded twice and would lose a lung. He would suffer with those wounds his entire life, especially these last bunch of years when his remaining lung became diseased. But he also suffered terribly from the invisible wounds many veterans have. While in the S. Pacific as a Seabee attached to the Marines, he saw and experienced horrific action, stuff so horrible that you wouldn’t wish it upon your worst enemy. But you would never have known any of that about Norm, as he kept it all internal. He refused to allow that to poison he external outlook on life or interactions with people. That alone is incredible to me.
I feel very blessed and honored to have crossed your path Norm Oliphant. Rest in peace now my incredible friend.
