Final Salute

CAREY, Michael R., 75, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Providence. He was the husband of Beverly (Acciaioli) Carey and they had been married for the past 55 years.

Born in Hutchinson, KS, he was the son of the late Earl and Betty (Kootz) Carey. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.

Mr. Carey served our country with honor in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Seabees.

Mr. Carey was employed as a custodian for the Cumberland School Department for 20 years until his retirement.

Michael was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, and was an altar server and lector for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Men of St. Joseph. He enjoyed bowling, golfing but most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children, Kevin M. Carey and his wife Christy of Venice, FL and Kristen A. Carey and her partner Barbara of Cumberland; as well as his two grandchildren Deanna and Ryan Carey. He was the father of the late Brian M. Carey.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Michael’s Life Celebration to be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
