Mr. Michael M. Sutley

Date of birth 04/29/1938
Date of passing 08/21/2025

Michael M. Sutley went home to Jesus on August 21st, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family at home. He was 87 years old and fought hard through years of physical health issues.

Mike was born in Everett, Washington on April 29th, 1938. He spent his youth in and around the Whidbey Island area & Langly where he graduated high school. He was a flat track motorcycle racer, loved Motorcycles and fast cars. He was a plumber & pipe fitter and worked around the Seattle area. He was in both the Army and the Navy Seabees in the 60’s and early 70’s. He moved to Valdez, Alaska then he married Roberta Herold in 1976, and they moved to Nikiski, Alaska in April 1977 just before their first child was born. He worked for Enstar Natural Gas Co. in both Soldotna and Anchorage until he retired in 2003. He bought land and built a home, raised two children, and helped fix furnaces and gas appliances for many all over the peninsula. He never said no even when they couldn’t afford it. He helped many and took absolutely zero credit for it. He and Roberta were members of Our Lady of the Angels in Kenai until they moved to Oklahoma in May of 2020. They attended Mass regularly at both OLA and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Soldotna for 44 years.

He is survived by his son Zach Sutley, daughter Jennifer White, and 7 grandchildren. Services will be held in the chapel of St. Joeseph’s Family Life Center Chapel at 421 E. Acres Street, Norman Oklahoma, with the Rosary on Thursday September 18th at 6 PM CT, Funeral Mass Friday, September 19th at 10:30 AM CT. We will be streaming both services live at these links:

In Lieu of Flowers:

Michael’s children, spouses & grandchildren have cared for Michael, Roberta and both of her sisters Marian and Amy for the last 5 years in a home together 24/7. All passed in the last 10 months. The family will be planning to take their ashes to be interned into the Catholic Cemetery with family who passed before them, in Washington State. This will be an undertaking so any financial help for expenses to lay them all to rest would be much appreciated. For any questions or donation address or options please reach out to the family at rsutley77@gmail.com
