Final Salute

Melvin “Swede” Carlson, age 95, of St. Germain, Wi. died on May 28, 2023 . He was born in Sweden on June 24, 1927 the son of Hugo and Katherine (Thorell) Carlson emigrating to Chicago, becoming a naturalized citizen and moving to his chosen home in McHenry Il. where he and his wife Nancy raised his children daughters Nanette (Walter) Wollin, Karen Carlson and his son Kenneth. He is survived by his grandchildren Nicole and Lyndsey, his great grandchildren Chandler, Jersey and Savanna, his sisters Doris Carlson, Gladys Sandstrom and Alice (Jack) Sullivan, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his brother Emory. Melvin’s life included tours as a seabee in the Navy and pursue hobbies such as deer hunting and fishing. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Services will be June 23rd, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw, WI.
