Maurice A. “Frenchie” Marcoux, age 71, of Gowanda passed away at home Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022. He was born in Biddeford, ME on December 30, 1950, the son of Joseph L. And Marie E. (Bisson) Marcoux.
Maurice honorably served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a proud member of the Navy’s Seabee Battalion, stationed in Antarctica.
Frenchie married Margaret “Peggy” (nee) Harrington at the former St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Perrysburg on August 18, 1973.
A retired New York State employee, Frenchie retired after 30 years of state service. At the time of his retirement, he worked as a developmental aide for WNYDDSO.
Maurice enjoyed researching his family genealogy, coin and stamp collecting, and he and his wife loved family travel and camping.
He enjoyed being a volunteer for the Gowanda Ambulance Service for many years, in which he also received his EMT certification. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friends and joining them for coffee regularly.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 49 years, Margaret “Peggy” Marcoux (nee Harrington) and their children, David P. (late Lacie Dombkiewicz) Marcoux of Kenmore, Nicole M. Marcoux of Gowanda and foster son, Billy K.; a brother, Paul R. Marcoux of Biddeford, ME; along with several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Besides his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. and Joseph P. Marcoux.
As per Frenchie’s request, there will be no prior visitation. Any celebration of his life will be done at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center Street in Gowanda.
