Matthew Bernard Gilmore Obituary
Matthew B. Gilmore, 63, of Harris Avenue, a former truck driver, died yesterday at Roger Williams Hospital. He was the husband of Madonna (Finnegan) Gilmore.
Born in Providence, the son of Luke and Mary (Campbell) Gilmore, he lived in Johnston for 36 years.
Mr. Gilmore drove for Campanella and Cardi of Warwick and Forte Bros. of Cumberland for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He served in World War II as a Navy Seabee. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves three sons, David M. Gilmore of North Providence, and Mark J. Gilmore and Michael P. Gilmore, both of Johnston; three daughters, Linda LaFazia and Diane Larsh, both of Johnston, and Kathleen Baker of Burrillville; a brother, Frank Gilmore of Johnston; four sisters, Agnus Gormley of Johnston, Mary Feeney of Cranston, Alice Dupre of Belton, Texas, and Rita Mitchell of Providence. He also has seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44, Greenville, Smithfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Lawrence Church, North Providence.
Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
