Date of passing 01/19/2023

Mark Allen Schofield, 52 of Mercerville, NJ passed away on January 19, 2023. Mark was born on March 2nd, 1970 in Newberry, Michigan. He was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Schofield of Lapeer, MI, welcoming him into a family of 8 other siblings. He was raised by his father Ronald and step-mother Peggy.
Just after high school graduation, Mark enlisted in the Navy and served proudly as a Seabee for five years. After he was honorably discharged, Mark became an entrepreneur and opened his own computer repair business. Later, Mark trained as a cable technician and worked in that field for the next 25 years.
Mark was an expert bowler and coach. He loved gardening, collecting vintage firearms and reloading ammunition. An animal lover, he had many dogs and cats over his lifetime.
Mark was intelligent, kind and generous. Although he never had much money of his own, he never hesitated to lend funds or a helping hand to others. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and everyone whose lives he touched.
In 2019, Mark decided to take a DNA test through Ancestry. Through this test, he found his biological maternal aunt, Hazel Fields, cousins Rose Morehouse and Carrie Summers, and half-brother Scott Hannah. Up to this point in his life, Mark had never known any blood relatives, so he was thrilled to connect with his new-found biological family.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Schofield, father and mother-in-law John and Kathie Good, brother-in-law John Good, step-mother Peggy Schofield, siblings Marsha Schofield, Cheryl James (Junior), Sharon Schafer (Gordon), Linda Frye, Cindy Schofield, Dennis Schofield, Gary Schofield, James (Robin) Schofield, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by aunt Hazel Fields, cousins Rose Morehouse and Carrie Summers and half-brother Scott Hannah.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mark’s Life Celebration, Friday February 3, 2023, at the Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA 18940. Visitation will be 10:00am to 12:00pm followed by his funeral service at 12:00pm. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
Mark was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 30. For the past 22 years diabetes caused him health and quality of life issues, as it does for millions of others. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mark’s name to the American Diabetes Foundation at www.diabetes.org.
