Lyle Wilmer Locke, 78 of Waterville passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of January 23, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born in Jeffersonville on October 21,1945, the son of Wilmer & Gertrude Locke.
A lifelong farmer and carpenter, Lyle lived every day with a work hard, play hard attitude. Aside from his time as a Seabee in the Navy, Lyle spent his life in Waterville on the family farm where he enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends on the hill and especially loved visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was happiest when the work was getting done, whichever season it happened to be~sugaring, haying, or hunting. When he wasn’t milking, he could be seen “holding down the bulk tank” with the help of a special friend or two. When he wasn’t out in the fields haying the next meadow, he was there to let you know when the hay was dry and ready to be baled, and when our trucks should be rolling out to get the bales back to the farm. Those that know Lyle best have at least one good hunting story to share about a deer hunting adventure or event. Lyle was proud of our Locke Family Farm sugaring operation and was always there to measure, cut, and plan out the next addition or building project.
Lyle leaves his wife of 55 years Susan, their three children Kim & John Tilton, Shawn & Denette Locke, Tracie Locke & Dean Judkins, his seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Kyle, Jenny and Michael, Seth, Nick, Morgan and Schuyler, and Dylan and his five great grandchildren, Devani, Jaxon, Carter, Maeve, and Lainey, Lyle is also survived by his sisters Adena Weidman & Bill Dalton, Marlene & Fred Hodgdon, and many other close family and friends including a special family friend, Bucky Slayton.
