Hague. Ludolf “Lu” William Megow, age 90, of 11 Bayberry Lane, Cape Cod Village, Hague NY went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on June 24, 2023 at Elderwood in Ticonderoga, NY.
Lu was born in Hartford CT on September 6, 1932, was a high school graduate of Howe High School in Billerica MA, and Wentworth Institute in Boston MA where he graduated with a degree in steam and diesel engineering. Lu had a successful career as a nuclear engineer at Combustion Engineering (ABB) for 28 years when he took early retirement in 1985 and moved to Hague NY.
Lu began his second career of caring for people when he joined the Hague Volunteer Fire Department in 1987 where he started as a basic life support EMT and worked his way up to an advanced life support EMT. Lu served his community for over 20 years with the Hague Ambulance Squad. Lu was also the Captain of the Ambulance Squad for several years and worked to have new ambulances commissioned for the Town of Hague.
During his residence in Hague, Lu was a councilman for the Town of Hague for 12 years, a former president and member of the board of directors for Cape Cod Village Club, and a member of the Hague Baptist Church. Lu was also a veteran of the Korean War US Navy Seabees.
Lu is predeceased by his first wife, Norma Rose Megow (2002), and his second wife Linda Jordon Fish-Megow (2021).
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Richard and Joann (Megow) Fortier of Crown Point NY, and Heidi Foy of West Hartford CT. Lu is also survived by his brother, William F. Megow (Helen – deceased) of Burlington, MA, and three grandsons, Jeffrey Fortier (Heather Fincher) of Monroe, NC, Kevin and Maggie Fortier of Lynchburg VA, one great granddaughter, Hazel Mae Fortier of Lynchburg VA and grandson Anthony Foy of New London CT. Lu is also survived by his step-children Steve and Lori Ross of Queensbury NY, Kraig and Melanie teRiele of Ticonderoga, NY, Todd and Bobbie Fish of Hague NY and Michael and Bernadette Fish of Mooresville NC as well as several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For the last two years of his life, Lu was blessed to have Sharon Bevins as his caregiver who gave unconditionally every day to making Lu’s life filled with quality.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga NY.
A Funeral Service will take place at the Hague Baptist Church, Route 8 in Hague NY on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 1 p.m. The Rev. Cory MacNeil will officiate.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at the May Memorial Cemetery of Hague.
Reception to follow at the Hague Volunteer Fire Department on 4 West Hague Road, Hague, immediately following the burial service.
