Final Salute

LeRoy Pummill, 78, of LaMonte, MO, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, surrounded by family, at his home. He was born on November 19, 1944, in Sedalia, MO, the son of Walter and Gracie Pummill, who preceded him in death.
On December 18, 1965, in La Monte, MO, he was united in marriage to Kay F. DeMotte, who resides in the home.
LeRoy graduated High School from La Monte, MO, in 1962 and enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees in 1963. He served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969. LeRoy worked as a furniture salesman at Biederman’s, a manager at Top Brands Department Store, a maintenance/custodian at the La Monte R-IV school district, carpenter, a craftsman for I Am Country Creations, and a civil service worker at Whiteman Air Force Base until his retirement. He was an active member of the Abundant Harvest Worship Center and enjoyed camping and traveling with the State Fair Good Sam’s. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and The Sons of the American Revolution. He was a recipient of the Honor Flight. He loved a good bowl of homemade banana ice cream. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren, traveling the country with his wife, and attending church.
Besides his wife, LeRoy is survived by two children, Karen Seward (Jim) of Watertown, TN, and John Pummill (Carrie) of Knob Noster; five grandchildren, Joshua Seward, Jordan Seward, Jesselyn Seward, Colten Pummill, and Mallory Pummill; a sister, Marla Easley (Jack) of Stillwater, OK; a step-brother, Tom Killion (Carol) of Hughesville, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the Abundant Harvest Worship Center, in Sedalia, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A private family burial will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, in Higginsville, MO, with full military honors at 2:00 p.m., with Pastors Tony and Merry Kroeger officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior’s Project or Abundant Harvest Worship Center in Sedalia, MO, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
