Mr. LeRoy L. Weiselberg

Date of birth 06/01/1930
Date of passing 08/06/2023

LeRoy L. Weiselberg, age 93, fell into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 6, 2023. LeRoy was born June 1, 1930, to LeRoy and Pearl Weiselberg in Detroit and moved to Traverse City as a child. He graduated from Traverse City High School in 1949 and honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in Japan and the South Pacific, during the Korean War. Upon arriving home after the Navy, he married Joyce K. (Stephenson), who preceded him in death in 2016.
LeRoy lived his life in Traverse City working with his father and brother, LF Weiselberg and Sons, building beautiful homes. He also worked for Brown Lumber and Klotzbach Reality. He was a founding and lifelong member of the Bayview Wesleyan Church serving many years on the board as treasurer and playing on the church softball team. He loved hunting pheasant and going bass fishing. Wood was putty in his hands and in his later years he spent many hours a day working on his Intarsia, a wood working process where pieces of wood are cut out and sculpted into pictures. If you happened to eat a meal with Leroy and your fork or your drink or your dinner roll went missing it was just LeRoy seeing if you were paying attention. When he asked you what weighed more, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers, it was just LeRoy seeing if you were paying attention. We will miss you, LeRoy. I wonder how the angels are faring?
LeRoy will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Valeria and Greg Buick, Vicki and Rich Hart; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Peiter and Dayle Buick (Aine and Aurelia), Noah Buick, Stephanie Saylor, Ashlee and Larry Anderson (Gabbee and Jameson), Sophia Hart, his brother, Donald and Nancy Weiselberg, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held August 26 at the Bayview Wesleyan Church located at 720 Wayne St., Traverse City, Mi. Visitation will be at 10 AM, the service at 11 AM and a luncheon at noon.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Michigan Veterans Home in Grand Rapids, for their loving care and support during LeRoy’s final months. Their dedication to excellence and quality individual care will always be remembered.
