LeRoy H. Maas, 78, of South Bend, passed away on Monday September 8, 2025, at his home.
LeRoy was born on September 4, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late LeRoy Sr. and Evelyn (Cooper) Maas.
LeRoy was a proud graduate of Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy and later on as a reservist SeaBee, a commitment he deeply valued. Following his military service, he pursued a career in concrete finishing. He was married to Nora King, sharing the last 45 years of life together. In addition to his work, LeRoy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking long walks. He was a long-time member of a pool league and loved playing Euchre. He was also a proud member of the local VFW 360, where he connected with fellow veterans. Above all, he cherished his family and loved New Orleans, his favorite vacation spot.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Nora, his daughter, Jennifer (Bill) Fruits and sons Dan Maas, Richard Hoover, Daniel (Andrea) Hoover, and Christopher Hoover. 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive along with his half-brother, John (Donna) Cooper.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Michael and Patrick Maas.
Visitation for LeRoy will be held from 9am-11am on Monday September 15, 2025, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. A funeral service will begin at 11am with military honors to follow. Internment will occur at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled America Veterans Association.
