LeRoy E. Dunston Obituary
LeRoy E. Dunston, 94, of Kelso passed away May 7 at home. He was born April 9, 1925 in Kelso to Roy E. And Agnes (Estes) Dunston.
LeRoy graduated from Kelso High School in 1943, and received vocational education at R.A. Long.
His military service included Marines, U.S. Navy, Seabees, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal. He entered military service January 28, 1944, and reached the rank of MM3C (CB); served at NTS Farragut, Idaho, 72 NCB, 31st NCB, PSC, USNB Bremerton, WA. LeRoy was discharged June 8, 1946.
LeRoy retired from Longview Fibre after 40 years as a millwright and carpenter. He was a member of the Kelso Elks, liked golf, bowling, carpentry, and being a snowbird to Yuma, AZ.
LeRoy was a man of many talents. He played sports for KHS, built his Kelso home, was a millwright and did carpentry work. He rebuilt his son’s and daughter’s cars.
He married Ramona L. Lamb November 27, 1947 in Little Rock, WA.
Survivors include daughter Cathy Green of Kelso; 3 grandsons Daniel Green of Ridgefield, Adam Dunston of Mesquite, TX, and Walter L. Dunston (Julie) of Caddao, TX; 2 granddaughters, Tammi Green of Kelso and Shelley Samuels (Mike) of TX; a great grandson; 3 great granddaughters, and daughter-in-law Sherry Dunston of Great Falls, MT.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ramona; son David Dunston; 2 sisters Virginia Herron and Beverly Stern, and his parents.
A friends and family gathering will be held June 16, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. at the Kelso Elks.
