Final Salute

Leonard Harding McPeak Jr., 78, of Piedmont, SC, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Greenville, SC, from injuries suffered in a traffic accident.

Born September 24, 1947 in Greensboro, NC, to the late Kathleen and Leonard McPeak.

Leonard was raised in Jackson, OH, where he graduated high school in 1965.

He was a talented mechanic and engineer who could fix most anything mechanical. He took that talent into the Navy and became a construction mechanic and proud Navy Seabee serving in Viet Nam.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Pat Dill, with whom he remained close; two daughters, Heather Souther and Faith Chappell; his grandchildren, Noah Chappell, Emilee Chappell, Brandon Chappell, Lauren Chappell, and Bentley McPeak. He is also survived by sisters, Kay Lawson, Donna Stevison, and Jan Cornett; and his brother Mike McPeak.

A private burial will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
