Leonard Allen “Len” Grindstaff, age 58, of Currituck, NC, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on May 3, 2023. Born in Newton, NC, on July 6, 1964, to the late Leonard Allen “Bud” Grindstaff and Phyllis Schavrien Grindstaff, he was the husband of Beth Grindstaff. A twenty-seven year Navy “Seabee” veteran, he worked for the Department of the Navy in Human Resources. Len was a great cook and very handy; he was always willing to help out anyone in need. Len also enjoyed growing anything, making fruit cobblers in the middle of the night and loved animals. An intelligent and well informed man, Len greatly valued education, earning two bachelor’s degrees and continuing to learn throughout his life. Family and friends meant everything to him and we will all miss him tremendously. Len’s wish was to be thought of as a good man, and that is exactly how he will be remembered.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Kelly Lynne Sheffield (Sheldon) and Robyn Grindstaff; sons, Kevin Grindstaff, Sean Melton (Mandie), Trip Serra, and Frankie Serra; brother, Jim Grindstaff (Barbara); mother and father-in-law, Kate and Eddie Lape; sister-in-law, Tara Duffy-Adams (Al); brother-in-law, Aaron Lape; grandchildren, Denver, Sean, Trevor, Jude, Allan, Stanley, Friedrick, Ari, Naomi, Eli, and Lilah; and nieces, Amber and Kara Grindstaff, and Roni Duffy; nephew, Max Duffy; and a host of other family and friends.
