Mr. Lawrence “Larry” R. Tammi

Calumet, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Bearville Township.

He was born Oct. 22, 1952, in Grand Rapids, to Robert and Verna (Hemphill) Tammi. He was a lifetime resident of the Lawrence Lake and Calumet area. He graduated from Greenway High School. He married Debra Johnson on Sept. 9, 1974, in Sisseton, S.D. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Hibbing Taconite Company. He was a U.S. Navy Seabees MCB5 veteran from 1970-1974, where he served in Vietnam. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local No. 2705, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pengilly Post No. 3381, and a member of the Calumet Fire Department for 21 years, where he served as an EMT. He also served on the Calumet City Council for four years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; two sons, Travis Tammi, River Falls, Wis., and Jeremy (Lori) Tammi and granddaugher Elisebeth, Andover; his mother, Verna (Eugene) Brooks, Calumet; a sister, Lynette (Robert) Cogger, Detroit Lakes; three stepsisters, Robbie (Tom) Cieklinski and Cheryl (Mike) Mandy, both of Minneapolis, and Debbie (Ronald) L\’Amie, Grand Rapids; and two stepbrothers, Donald (Diane) Brooks, Keewatin, and James (Cathy) Brooks, Warroad.

Preceding him in death was his father, Robert Tammi, in 1984.

Services: Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, with the Rev. C. Arlin Talley officiating.

Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
