Larry Mack Weed, 73, passed away on December 29, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. Larry worked for Evonik Industries in Theodore, AL for 31 years as a Supervisor-Piping Design Process Technology and Engineering in North America, as well as spending a number of years traveling for the company to South Africa, Singapore, and Brazil. He was well respected with the company and had a good relationship with coworkers – some of which became good friends. Larry was always a hard worker. He served six years in the Navy Reserves Construction Battalion Center with the Seabees out of Gulfport, MS and enjoyed his time serving. Larry was very involved with his community. He joined the volunteer fire department and served a fire chief for a couple of years. He, along with his Seabees’ help, constructed the Seven Hills Fire Department on Newman Road. Larry also played a part in forming and organization to stop the placing of a landfill near his home, and served on the board as president. He was an extremely generous person, and was ready and willing to do anything for his friends and family. Larry had a love for the open water and enjoyed deep sea fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Daisy – she was truly loved and will miss Larry so much. Larry was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by so many, especially his family. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol Weed; his mother, Ruby Weed; three sons, Larry Mack Weed, Jr. (Melody), Reed Cox (Savuth), and Keith Weed; one daughter, Michelle Hardin (Andy); grandchildren, Brantley, Avery, Cole, and Auston; as well as other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sister, Elizabeth Fikes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends. Visitation for Larry will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2020 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery West on Snow Road.
