Final Salute

ROCK FALLS – Larry E. Geesey, 78, of Rock Falls, died Monday, January 25, 2021.

He was born on December 14, 1942 in Sterling, the son of Orville Gray and Hazel Marie (Olson) Geesey. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served two tours ofduty from January 16, 1962 to September 10, 1971 in the US Navy as a Seabee.

He married the former Sandra Kay Smith on June 28, 1966 in Rock Falls. Larry was a member of, and active in the American Legion Post 902. He was past State Historian, past District Commander, and past Division Commander. He was a member of the Rock falls VFW and had served as treasurer. Larry was the family genealogist and active seeking his family tree. He liked feeding and watching the birds.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; nieces and nephews, including Kevin (Teresa) Smith; and his brother, Kenneth W. Geesey of Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday February 1, 2021 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls. The service will follow with Chaplain Richard Willhite officiating. Burial will conclude with military honors at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
