Larry Carlton Murray, 81, Dearing, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2025.

He was born in Washington, Georgia on April 18, 1943, grew up in Dearing, Georgia,  and lived most of his life in Dearing.  Upon graduating from Thomson High School, he enlisted in the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War and once he completed his term of enlistment then he went into the Army National Guard of Thomson and was an NBC Sargent from which he retired after 32 years of service.  He also worked as a Network Tech with Bellsouth and retired after 32 years of service.  He was Baptist by faith and a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church, a member of Harlem Masonic Lodge No. 276 and the Thomson Shrine Club.  He enjoyed being outside tending to his goats and chickens and loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Adams Murray; his parents, Walter C. Murray and Mattie Adams Murray and his brother, Robert “Bobby” Murray.  His survivors include his sons, Bryan Carlton Murray and Patrick Scott Murray; his brother, Walter Murray; his sister, Patsy Thompson; and his grandchildren, Taylor Carlton Murray and Hannah Elizabeth Vrell (Lane).

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Road, Thomson, Georgia. His Funeral Service, being officiated by Rev. Jim Martin, will be held in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with the interment Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson, Georgia with full military honors.  Pallbearers for the service are Bryan C. Murray, Patrick S. Murray, Taylor C. Murray and Hannah Elizabeth Vrell.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the local Thomson Shrine Club Roadrunners, for the Shriner Pediatric Burn Care Facility, in Illinois
