Final Salute

Kenneth Alan Shelnutt, 76, of Gardendale passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born on December 4, 1948. He was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy Seabees from 1967 to 1973 and retired from ACIPCO in 1995 after 28 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janet Shelnutt; daughters, Alana (Larry) White and Andrea (Chad) Wilson; grandchildren, Lara White, Samuel White, Caleb White, Andrew White and Brady Wilson; sister, Dale (Gary) Rasco and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal Shelnutt and Marinell Rooks Shelnutt.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Gardendale Heritage Funeral Home; burial with military honors will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
