Ken Brown, age 78, of Lake Lure, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great grandfather, and a faithful servant of God, Ken lived a life marked by service, dedication, and unwavering faith.
Ken was born on May 23, 1947, in Randolph County to the late John Robert Brown and Mattie Mae Russell Brown. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. As a member of the Navy’s Construction Battalion, known as the Seabees, Ken was part of an elite unit responsible for building and maintaining vital infrastructure around the world, often under challenging and dangerous conditions. He took great pride in his service as a Seabee and carried that sense of honor and commitment throughout his life.
Following his military service, Ken answered a higher calling and dedicated his life to ministry. He was an ordained minister and a valued part of Andrew Wommack Ministries, where he served as Director for Charis Bible College Charlotte, NC. His passion for teaching, leadership, and sharing God’s Word touched countless lives, and his influence will continue to be felt through those he mentored and inspired.
Outside of his work and ministry, Ken found great joy on the golf course. An avid golfer, he faithfully played three days a week, every week, enjoying not only the game itself but the fellowship and friendships it brought.
Ken’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Patsy Ann Lott Brown; four children, Donna Kay Cook (Travis) of Asheboro, April Ann Brown of Denver, Sherri Vickers (Gary) of Rutherfordton, and Kenneth Patton (Tina) of Marion; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and his loyal and beloved dog, Benji.
Memorial services to celebrate Ken’s life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairfield Mountain Chapel in Lake Lure, with visitation to follow the service. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Service at Freedom Christian Center in Charlotte, NC
