Passed on November 3, 2024, he is survived by sons Douglas and Thomas, daughters-in-law Wendy King and Claudia Rozenberg, and granddaughters Lucia and Samantha.
Jules grew up in Perth Amboy and Metuchen, New Jersey where his study of piano led him to a lifelong love of music which he passed on to his family. He attended Oberlin College and Indiana University, and proudly served in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve including the Seabees. Jules worked for the U.S. Department of Labor until his retirement. He occasionally lunched at Kelly’s Irish Times.
Jules’s love of humanity and devotion to friends and family led him to his endeavors, including outreach and administration at Oaklands Presbyterian Church, and Boy Scout Troop 9, where he served as scoutmaster. He was always ready to assist.
Jules enjoyed travel, the outdoors, and especially visiting friends and family with his wife of over 50 years, Phyllis, who passed away in 2018. A baseball player, he was also a sports fan, his favorite teams being the Indiana Hoosiers, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Orioles. He later acknowledged the Nationals.
A private memorial service will be pending. Donations may be made to Friends of the Patuxent Research Refuge, where Jules also volunteered after retirement.
