With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Pagano, Age 81, on February 23 rd, a
cherished husband, devoted father, beloved grandfather, and passionate car enthusiast. Joe’s
journey began in Philadelphia, where he was born and raised, instilled with the values of loyalty,
hard work, and compassion. His remarkable life unfolded with a richness of experiences that
touched countless lives and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Joe served his country as a member of the Navy Seabees during the tumultuous years of the
Vietnam War, embodying the spirit of bravery and selflessness. Upon his return, he pursued
higher education, graduating from Widener University, formerly Penn Morton College, where he
cultivated a thirst for knowledge and a passion for lifelong learning.
In 1973, Joe embarked on a new chapter in Rochester, where he planted roots and grew his
family. A true Renaissance man, Joe’s talents knew no bounds. From his expertise as a skier to
his mastery of windsurfing, he embraced adventure and shared his passion for the great outdoors
with others as a dedicated teacher and mentor.
Joe’s love for cars was a defining aspect of his life. As a car enthusiast, he possessed an
encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles and reveled in the buying and maintenance of vintage
foreign cars. Highlights of his passion included over a decade of volunteerism at the Concours
d’Elegance in Pebble Beach. Joe was also a car rally enthusiast, further demonstrating his deep-
seated love for the automotive world.
His versatility was unmatched; he was a skilled mechanic, a green-thumbed gardener, and as the
owner of T-Squared Electronics manufacturers representative firm, a savvy businessman with an
innate ability to tackle any challenge that came his way.
But perhaps Joe’s greatest legacy lies in the warmth of his personality and the depth of his
relationships. Charming, witty, and always ready to dance, he lit up every room he entered and
brought joy to all who crossed his path. His unwavering devotion to his family knew no bounds,
as he stood as their protector and nurturer, offering love, guidance, and support through every
triumph and trial.
In addition to his roles as husband, father, and grandfather, Joe was a dedicated volunteer and an
intrepid traveler, often embarking on adventures with his children and grandchildren by his side.
Joe’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and boundless enthusiasm, accompanied by his infectious
smile, will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may be gone
from our sight, his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he
created. May his laughter echo in our hearts forever, reminding us of his enduring impact on
those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Frank Passero and his exceptional
team at Wilmot Cancer Center for their empathetic care and unwavering support throughout the
past 12 years. Additionally, we wish to express our appreciation to the nurses on the 6th floor of
Wilmot Cancer Center for their infectious energy and caring attentiveness. Our sincere thanks
also go to the U of R hospice team for ensuring Joe’s final days were comfortable at home. A
very special acknowledgment goes to Cheryl Brooks for her steadfast presence and support
throughout Joe’s cancer journey.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held in early June where friends and family will gather to
honor his memory and share stories of his extraordinary journey. In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to in Joe’s name to Webster Comfort Care Home and Wilmot Cancer Center,
continuing his legacy of service and compassion.
Rest in peace, dear Joe. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
