Jospeh Gustav Ose Obituary

Joseph Gustav Ose, born December 22, 1933 in Highland, NY, and a long time Poughkeepsie resident, passed gently, peacefully and quietly into the Kingdom of the Lord on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.

The third of eight children, he is survived by his wife of 58 years and love of his life, Mary A. Ose, his sons Joseph Paul. and Steven, grandchildren Alexander, Morgan and Nicholas, older siblings Loraine and Alfred, and younger siblings Robert, George, William and Elizabeth.

Joseph’s life devotions to his family, faith, and work were obvious to those who knew him. He was a veteran serving 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War.

He entered the work force as a mechanic after the Navy, holding jobs at Hyson’s Garage, Western Printing, Lombardi Construction, and spent the majority of his career at HO Penn, where he earned distinction as being top in his field. He was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Wappingers Falls.

In 1957, he met his future wife Mary at a church picnic and it was love at first sight. Their hearts quickly became as one and his presence will be felt forever by all that love him.

A private wake will be held for immediate family, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin DePorres Church on Monday, October 1st 10am followed by burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
