ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – Joseph Francis Hurley, born in Chicago, IL, on January 29, 1925, to William J and Bridget T. (nee Lynch) Hurley. He died peacefully on June 29, 2021, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Joe served during WWII with the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1943-1946 in both the Philippines and China as part of a Stevedore Battalion. He received his degree from Loyola University in Chicago and worked as a claims administrator in the insurance industry. Joe is survived by the love of his life, Lois M. Hurley (nee Hawkins), whom he met on All Saints Day in 1962, and married on The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1964; their children, Craig Hurley of Algonquin, IL and Lynn (Bob) Smith of Arlington Heights, IL; their grandchildren, Rebecca Smith, Christopher Smith, Benjamin Smith, Isabella Smith, Bridget Hurley and Connor Hurley; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hurley; and sister, Mary Baker. Joseph was a devout Catholic, loved old time radio, dancing with his wife, and baseball – especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Visitation Tuesday July 6, from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Arlington Heights. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
