Mr. Joseph A. “Jody” Lovette

Lovette, Joseph A. “Jody”, – 72, of Palermo, known to everyone as Jody, passed away at home on Thursday, May 27th at the age of 72. Jody grew up in Beesley’s Point, attended the Upper Township schools, and graduated from Ocean City High School in 1967, and then from Cape May County Technical School. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1968- 1972. Jody was a union pipe fitter and welder, who worked on many large construction projects. He retired from Liber Rich Mechanical Contractors in 2004. Jody spent the rest of his life doing what he loved most – working in his shop. He was an enthusiast of all types of auto racing. Jody lived in Beesley’s Point and Palermo all his life. He had friends of all ages, including many from his elementary school years. He was known and loved for his kindness and generosity. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Joan; his sister, Ginger Lovette Wimberg; and many nieces and nephews. Jody was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Lovette; his sister Joanne; twin sister, Muriel; and his brother, John Patrick. His Memorial Service will be offered Tuesday morning, June 1st at 11 o’clock from St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Eighth Street at Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10 o’clock until the time of service. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters United Methodist Church Building Fund. 501 E. 8th St, Ocean City, NJ, 08226.
