Joseph A. Burawa, age 78, of Waterford, died at home Thursday, February 15, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on June 2, 1945 in Meadville, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Benson Burawa. Joe married Nancy Holmes on May 28, 1966 and she survives.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Joe served in Bainbridge, Maryland as a Seabee from October 1965-1967. When he returned home he began employment at Troyer Construction in John Deere Agricultural/Construction Equipment and then finished his career as a Service Manager at A.R. Beatty & Son, Case Equipment until retirement.

Family members left to mourn his loss include his wife, Nancy Holmes Burawa; three children, Joseph H. Burawa (Sue) of Beaver Falls, PA; Andrew J. Burawa (Kimberly) of Waterford; and Chad E. Burawa (Kari) of Grantsville, MD; six grandchildren, Carleton, Hannah, Ethan, Katelynn, Valerie, and Kourtney; and brother, John Burawa (Sharon) of Edinboro; sister, Susan Chase (Allan) of Waterford; sister-in-law Karen (Bunny) Holmes (Robert) who came in from Phoenix, AZ to help Joe and Nancy; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank UPMC Family Hospice and especially Nurse Pam Duda for their kind and compassionate care during Joe’s final week.

Friends may call at the Van Matre Funeral Home of Waterford on Friday, February 23rd from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm with funeral services following at 2:00 pm officiated by Rev. Tori Heath of Asbury Global Methodist Church. Committal service and burial will follow at Waterford Cemetery.
