Jonathan Steele Marlow, 38, of Alexandria, and formerly of Straughn, IN, passed away at home surrounded by his family on the afternoon of Monday, August 21, 2023 following a courageous eight-year battle with brain cancer.
He was born on August 25, 1984 in Shelbyville, IN, a son of the late Patrick E. and Donna E. Marlow.
Jon graduated from Tri High School in 2003 and following his father’s footsteps he joined the United States Navy. He served honorably as a Seabee with NMCB133 stationed in Gulfport, Mississippi and completed multiple tours overseas including, Djibouti, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iraq. He was a member of the American Legion Post #360 in Indianapolis.
Jon graduated with a bachelor degree in hospitality management from Chef’s Academy in Indianapolis. He managed restaurants that included Cadillac Ranch, McDonalds in Des Moines, Iowa, and Extended Stay America hotels. Jon enjoyed bowling, football and was a fantasy football champion. He also enjoyed roller coasters, cooking, and game nights with family. But most of all loved spending time with his wife, Harmoni and son, Jaxon.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Harmoni (Hall) Marlow; a son, Jaxon Steele Marlow; a brother, Jason (wife: Angela) Marlow; a nephew, Dane Patrick Marlow; paternal grandfather, Eldred Marlow; aunt, Susan Gaw and uncle Joe (wife: Glenda) Gaw Jr. and several extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Marlow; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Gaw Sr.; uncles Stephen Marlow, Michael Marlow, Terry Marlow, Johnny Gaw and an aunt, Cheryl Floyd.

Friends may visit from 1–5 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2023 at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at South Mound West Lawn Addition in New Castle with military honors provided by contingents of the United States Navy and American Legion.
