Johnny Filbeck, 73, of Benton, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
Johnny was born on December 4, 1946, in Paducah, to John and Maggie Mullinax Filbeck. He retired from the National Guard Armory in Murray, where he worked in maintenance. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, National Guard, and the Navy Seabees, as well as a former Kentucky State Police Officer. Johnny loved going to trade day, going to yard sales, and had a basement full of treasures to prove it. He enjoyed reading and watching westerns, and also loved to fish. He was a member of Briensburg Church of Christ, where he always enjoyed when he got the opportunity to get up and lead the church in prayer.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sharon Lyles Filbeck; two daughters, Stephanie Turley and husband Curtis of Benton and Carla Sizelove and husband Joel of Toney, Alabama; one stepdaughter, Angie Hawkins and husband Roy of Paris, Tennessee; one stepson, Michael Houser of Benton; his mother, Edna “Maggie” Filbeck; two sisters, Janice Tubbs and husband Jimmie of Benton and Sharon Hibbs and husband Stan, of Benton; eight grandchildren, Cody Driver, Hunter Fosko, Logan Sizelove, Damon Turner, Anessa Turner, Chelsea Bailey, Nicolas Hawkins, and Dillon Houser; seven great-grandchildren; Filbeck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Everett Filbeck; and his brother, Jimmy Filbeck.
Arrangements are being handled by Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr.
In compliance with health and public safety directives, the funeral arrangements for Johnny Filbeck will be private.
