Mr. John S. Horvath

John S. Horvath, 94, of Cabot, passed away on  November 25, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born October 19, 1930 in New Kensington, he was the son of John Horvath and Anna Boratko Horvath.

John served in the US Navy in the Seabees during Korea.

John worked as a rural letter carrier in Cabot for 26 years retiring in 1988, to pursue his love of farming.  He was a member of Evangel Heights Assembly of God in Sarver where he was a leader of the Royal Rangers for 37 years.  He enjoyed camping with his family, hunting, fishing, flea markets and was a member of the Frontier Camping Fraternity, where he was known as “Trapper John”.  Like many of his frontier heroes, John faithfully kept a journal for over 20 years. Most importantly he loved Jesus.

Surviving are his wife, Frankie R. (Wright) Horvath, whom he married July 2, 1955, his children, Debra K. (Cary J. ) Barry of Cabot, Stephen D. (Deborah) Horvath of Porter, IN and John F. (Brandy) Horvath of Boswell, PA, one brother, Paul (Belva) Horvath of Jacksonville, FL, three sisters, Martha Fisher of Pittsburgh, Pauline George of Sewickley and  Betty Byrne of Hudson, MA, seven grandchildren, Julie, James, Joshua, Nicole, Jonathan, Asa, Jared, two great-grandsons, Caleb and Gabriel.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Samuel Horvath and Robert Horvath

Friends will be received on  Friday, November 29, 2024, from 2-5 pm, and Saturday,  November 30, 2024, from 9:30 am – 10:00 am at Fox Funeral Home, Inc., Saxonburg, PA.  Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 am. with Rev. Chris Marshall officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to Child Hope International, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
