Final Salute

John Frederick Mardorff, age 84, of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, formerly from New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away Jan. 1, 2021.
John (Nee Jack) was an honorably discharged Navy veteran serving with the United States Naval Construction Battalions better known as the Navy Seabees. His active duty was during the Vietnam era where he served several tours.
He earned several commendations and three bronze stars. Once discharged from the military, Jack became a commercial transporter of steel, goods and cement both locally and long distance.
Jack is preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine Ann; mother Alma Marie; father Clarence of New Castle, Pennsylvania; and sister, Betty Jane of Miamisburg, Ohio.
He is survived by two stepsons, John (Kandie) and Danny Cassidy; and three stepgrandchildren. He has five nieces and nephews and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held at Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery New Wilmington, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, on Monday, January 11, 2021.
Jack’s family wish to thank the kind and caring staff of the Premier Nursing home in Jacksonville, North Carolina, for Jack’s care during his stay.
