John Francis Johnson, 82, of the Bear Clan, Red Lake, MN died Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Mahnomen Health Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the new Red Lake Center in Red Lake, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. Military Honors will be provided by the 3 Star Warrior Society of O’basheeng.
John was born May 27, 1942 in Red Lake, Minnesota, the son of Eddie and Cecelia (Bellanger) Johnson. He was raised and educated there graduating from Red Lake High School and Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. John proudly served in the U. S. Navy as a SeaBee with distinction. He worked as a carpenter. He married Emily Parkhurst on June 5, 2010 in Red Lake. He retired from the University of Minnesota Duluth in the facilities and services department after 30 years of service. He then worked for Red Lake Housing authority for 5 years as a consultant. He loved spending time with family, taking many vacations on the Pow-Wow trail, Badlands, Grand Canyon, Devil’s Tower, Yellowstone, & Disney land. He loved watching football and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Emily Parkhurst-Johnson,

Children Dellan, Vallyn, Aris, Thel-Lys, David, Belva, Daniel, Nazalyn, Joe, and adopted daughter Christy Neeb,
13 grandchildren Desmond, Harmonie, Eris, Okemos, Aaron, Monico, Darissa, Kalum, Shawn, Mariah, Kevin, Blaze, Nacie.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Cecelia Johnson, brothers Clarence “Timmy” Johnson and Jerome Johnson.

Honorary Casketbearers are William Greene, Christopher Erickson, Mott Parkhurst, Charlie Parkhurst, Harlan Johnson, Alvin Sam.
