Mr. John Edward Jones

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Edward Jones, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on January 6, 2025, at the age of 77.
Johnny’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. He spent fifty remarkable years married to his cherished wife, Judy. Together, they built a life rich in memories and a family that thrived on the values of compassion and unity. Johnny was a proud father: John (Ariadna) Jones, Jennifer (Randy) Martin, Jeffrey (Brittany) Jones, Jacquelyn (Jonathan) Brown, and Jacob Jones. His legacy continues through them, as well as through his beloved eight grandchildren and great granddaughter, who were the light of his life.

Johnny proudly served his country as a member of the United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees. His military service included two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Honor Guard drill team and served as escort to General Westmoreland. Johnny had a profound sense of duty and commitment, traits he carried throughout his life. He often shared stories from his time in the Seabees, highlighting the bonds he formed and the love of his country.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Mary Jones Kuykendall, whose memory always brought a smile to his face. He is survived by his brother, Jerry (Sandra) Jones, and his sisters, Deborah (Michael) Reed and Virginia (Tom) Fleming.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Johnny’s life on January 9, 2025, at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL. The graveside service will commence at 11:00 AM, where we will gather to honor the memory of a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his love and compassion.
