John Chase Obituary

A longtime Mason resident, Mr. Chace died at home on Dec. 4, 2015, from natural causes.

He served with the 75th Naval Construction Battalion in the South Pacific during World War II.

After the war, he worked as a draftsman for numerous tri-state projects and businesses before assisting with and operating several family-owned businesses.

John Chace loved boats, a good debate, his trusty pipe and the business he ran until the day he died.

John Chace was the devoted brother of Robert Chace, Susan Chace (Lewis) Burnham and the late James, William and Benjamin Chace.

In addition to his brother and sister, Mr. Chace is survived by nieces and nephews John William (Pat) Chace, James Robert Chace, Susan Ann Chace, Liz (Tom) VerSchure, William Allan (Blanca) Chace, Steven (Christina) Burnham and James (Lee) Burnham; eight great nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for John Chace, 94, owner of Mason Boat Storage and part owner of Mason Canning Co., will be held at 1 p.m Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home in Mason.
